Database Dependency

The Flow Consultant is dependant on having some baseline default data to start from.  While some common design conditions have been selected as an initial starting point, we have accounted for these settings not being applicable to all users.

To change what appears when first starting the application, change the design settings to suite your individual needs.  Select your most common meter, units of measure and fluid properties.  These may be recalled from another file in the database.

After selecting your personalized design conditions or loading a previously stored file from the database, Click the Save button or or go to the Main Menu and select File then Save.

Select the file named Default from the list of filenames in the current database and click the Save button.  You will be prompted to overwrite filename Default, confirm this message with Yes and your initial defaults will appear the next time the application starts.

Users familiar with the 16 bit version of the Flow Consultant (Versions 3.x) will  recall the file named LastFileDefault serves the same function as LastFile.  After upgrading to Version 5.1, please discontinue use of the filename LastFile

When the database path is changed to any database containing a record with the filename of LastFile the database will be assumed to be a version 3.x database.  Version 3.x database can be imported from  Main Menu, File -> Import -> Import Flow Consultant 3.0 Database (*.mdb)

In the event of mission critical data storage in a version 3.x database that requiring mass conversion, please email your 16 bit database in an attachment addressed to millerheaton@cs.com. In a stand alone installation of version 3.x, the database name is fc.mdb.

The normal turnaround time is 7 to 10 working days to process your database.
